Diana Misetic FW 2013

When I moved to Pittsburgh in 2007 I thought I had left all my dreams of the fashion world behind. So I diligently closed the door to that lifestyle and stepped into the completely engulfing world of computer science. My studies kept me amply busy but I still lusted for the fashion world and would avidly follow the lastest collections on style.com, TFS... you name it, I read it, I was addicted. Although I sewed on the side and took relevant classes when I could, it wasn't until the summer of 2010 that I found designer Diana Misetic.

It was at her (old) shop in Shady Side that I would spend a couple days a week down in her studio below the storefront sewing, cutting fabric, etc. It was a dream come true. Diana herself is definitely one of those people that you could talk to for hours. With NPR oozing out the the radio and needle in hand, hours would pass like a knife through butter. I really had found where I belonged. While I have many, many fond memories of the time I interned, I don't think I could ever fully express the time I spent at Little Black Dress.

Hopefully her Fall/Winter collection can give you a peek into the world I had entered the day I started my internship! The collection was inspired by 60's stewardesses with a modern/futuristic twist. Interesting fabrics that came from Italy, England, and Switzerland that have a lot of stretch are at the forefront in this collection.

About Diana

Diana Misetic is a women’s contemporary designer with a background in couture. Diana moved to United States of America in 1994 from Europe to pursue her fashion career and establish her own independent label. With her degree in fashion and business, Diana Misetic started working as a pattern maker for a women’s couturier “Westminster Designs”. After four years she became the head of production and design. Mastering pattern-making she opened doors to her own fashion couture house “Little Black Dress” where she excelled in women’s evening wear and gowns. In 2007 Misetic debuted her first collection of ready to wear designs. Diana Misetic maintains two collections per year (Spring/Summer & Fall/Winter) in addition to a small number of couture projects. Her styles are modern classics designed with strong independent women in mind who live every minute of their lives!
