Lanvin FW13: Cheeky Chains

Earlier this year I shared accessory details from Anna Sui's FW13 collection. What I really fell in love with was the reference to Christian art and gaudy crosses that you would typically find on paintings of royalty from the 17th and 18th century... think Napoleon Bonaparte and heavy crown jewels. The Lanvin FW13 collection had similar references but somehow Alber Elbaz managed to make the stereotypical nameplate necklace look classy. Yes, I'm talking about Jenny from the block status gold nameplate necklaces (that's actually a really interesting article) fully adorned with faux diamond pave. Classy.

The twist Elbaz took was sort of unexpected: nameplate necklaces turned into oversized one-word statement necklaces (pave thankfully removed), royal looking pendants got large faux pearls, pave statements, and big chains. If that wasn't enough crystallized mutant sized bee brooches seemingly fluttered onto shoulders, wrists, and necklines.

I'm really taken by the details of this collection. The jewelry is taking a stand for juxtaposition. And really, who wouldn't want a gigantic "Cool" scrawled across their brass knuckle region?
